‘We are ready to play’: Xiaomi CEO says the company has ‘no regrets’ over the delay of the first Mi Max teaser
TechCrunch (India), TechCrunch India,TechCrunch India (India)- The Xiaomi CEO has given a statement to the Indian media stating that Xiaomi is ready to launch the Mi Max with its new “supercharged” version of its upcoming flagship smartphone at the start of the second quarter.
In an interview to the news channel TechCrunch, Lei Jun, Xiaomi CEO said that he has not lost any sleep over the fact that the device has been delayed by at least a year.
He also said that Xiaomi’s decision to launch a supercharged version of the Mi Mini was due to a series of factors that included the launch of the OnePlus One in India, Xiaomi’s own internal decision to delay the Mi Ultra to enable the launch, and a lack of time with the production of the devices.
While Xiaomi had said that the Mi Minis would launch in October this year, the first teaser image for the device was released on March 4, 2018.
The device is a 4.7-inch smartphone with a Snapdragon 821 processor, 8GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The device is powered by a 4,000mAh battery, and comes with a 5MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, a fingerprint scanner, a microSD card slot, and 3,400mAh battery.
The Xiaomi Mi Mini is expected to be available in two variants: the Mi mini-5, and Mi mini 2, and will cost Rs 4,999 (around $670), and Rs 3,999 ($460).
